One of the numerous parties at BlogHer 2009 was sponsored by Whrrl, a rare technology sponsor. They loaded a room with Baskin-Robbins ice cream cakes and used the event as a way to showcase their new iPhone Twitter app and site, Whrrl.
Whrrl is an app and site that allow event producers and attendees to share the story of an event in one place. Sure, you can follow a hashtag, but this Flash-animated photo site is more fun and more interactive. For example, this is the "story" from the Baskin-Robbins event, told in photos:
The story is told via an interactive visual timeline; attendees and wish-I'd-been-there Twitterers add comments and conversations around photos and Tweets from the event. Now, instead of searching for hashtags to find individual attendee's photos from an event, everything can be Twittered live and consolidated into one attractive, interactive interface. It puts the value of "I was there" into an event.
Eager to try this out for Social Media Club's next event. What do you think?
